There is nothing more exciting and fulfilling than knowing you are bringing a tiny person into this world. We already love our little peanut more than you can imagine and it's heart warming and overwhelming to see how many family and friends already love our sweet little baby as much as we do. Two weeks ago my sister threw Pat and I a magical co-ed baby shower. She incorporated two of my favorite colors, Mint and Gold into a baby wonderland. Photos of our pregnancy were framed and scattered all over the house while mint, aqua and gold pom poms and ombre pennant banners were hung throughout for the perfect amount of modern baby decor. There was a journal that guests could sign with words of wisdom for the expecting parents and beautiful bouquets of baby blue hydrangeas.
Let's talk about the food. One of my oldest and dearest childhood best friends, Kristin catered the shower with healthy, vegan and vegetarian, green goddess bite size delicatessens. She's not actually a caterer, but just happens to be brilliant in the kitchen and doesn't need to follow a recipe. She pulls "food magic" out of her head and creates a master piece. Needless to say the food was out of this world fantastic! My fabulous mother also helped host the party and she contributed to the mouth watering display of food.
Spinach Cranberry Cream Cheese Pinwheels
Zucchini Quiche Squares
Pea Crostini with Mint
Gluten Free Pasta with Vegan Pesto and Broccoli
Hummus and Pita Chips
Chips and Guacamole
Vegan Green Goddess Dip with Veggies
Meatballs (for the meat eaters were made by friend Denise)
If that wasn't enough, we also had the most spectacular cookies and milk bar you have ever seen. My mother-in-law went above and beyond with a wide assortment of cookies that you dipped into your choice of almond, chocolate or regular milk. My adorable niece also helped her make several dozen beautiful homemade mint colored macarons that were given out as favors. My sister couldn't help herself and ordered a beautiful aqua ombre vanilla cake that was so pretty you didn't want to eat it...but we did and it was delicious!
I can't thank everyone enough who helped make this shower happen, but a special thank you goes out to my "Martha Stewart" sister for going above and beyond in creating such a whimsical and magical special day for us. When I looked back at the photos my eyes fill with happy tears. It was such a beautiful and special shower. One we will never forget.
